Moving from Office of Strategic Influence (band)

[edit]

Since the name of the band is really "OSI" how does one change the term?

I've moved the page (the old page now redirects here). I've also changed all references on wikipedia so they reference this page and use the correct name. --Minority Report (entropy rim riot) 14:54, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

There's only one or two songs on their fucking porn pussy album which could be considered progressive metal. The rest could be described as alternative rock and psychedelic/progressive rock. - "Anonymous" 11:11, 2 Mar 2006 (EST)

Industrial

[edit]

I personally think that OSI could be defined as industrial at points, and it might be notable enough to count. More of a darl Nine Inch Nails style industrial, personally. That's just my opinion, so the point is - Do you think that we could count OSI as an industrial rock band? They certainly have enough synth work to consider the possibility, and they've gotten to a slightly industrial point before, I like to think. RaphaelFaunus 01:01, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(This comment is three years late, but hey!) I've just re-written the article, including cleaning up the infobox. I think the stance to take with which genres to list is 1) to list the genre/s the band describe themselves as, and failing that 2) to list the genre/s the press describe them as. We don't need to go to 2) because, as you'll see in the Musical style section, Kevin Moore describes the band's sound as progressive rock with prog metal and electronica elements. For that reason, I've decided to only list progressive rock, because the band first and foremost consider OSI to be a progressive rock band; and second, listing too many genres will make the field unwieldy.
Re classifying them as industrial - see WP:OR. We might (somehow) decide between us that OSI are industrial metal, electro rock and synth pop - but that would be original research. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought - it is nothing more than a collation of what has already been said about a subject by people considered reliable. Fair use rationale for Image:OSI band Moore Matheos.jpg

[edit]

Image:OSI band Moore Matheos.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Note to GA reviewer

[edit]

As/when/if a GA reviewer reviews this article (if that's you, hi!), they will notice the lack of band image. Criterion 6 of WP:WIAGA states the article should be "Illustrated, if possible, by images". This article is a special case where it is not possible to include a full band picture. The band has not played any live shows, and made no public appearances, meaning there are no free images of the band available. I have included a picture of guitarist Jim Matheos in the main body of the article (because there are free images available of him, and such an image is relevant to the article), but, as I've said, there are no free images of the band available.
